The 111eme took parts in the most important campaign of napoleonic wars, in battles such Austerlitz, Jena-Auerstadt, Wagram, Eckmul,Borodino, Ligny, Wavre and others. In 1812 the 111eme in Ney Corps took parts in the epic withdraw with the rearguard. The re-enactment group was created in 1992 in Turin (Italy), and was present in the most important re-enactment event in Europe.

The unit comprised Light Infantry, Riflemen, Hussars, Artillery, Highlanders, and Grenadiers. It served during the American War of Independance, (1776-83). Our Devon based reenactment group has been commissioned for several BBC programmes, English Heritage, National Trust etc. Simcoe is buried in East Devon.

It formed part of the brigade Van Bijlandt, which suffered heavily in both battles, being among the first to make contact with the French forces. Standing next to our batallion are the 27th Batallion Jagers, the 5th Batallion Militia and the Section Winzinger (artillery).

Our main reenactment portrayal is a cavalry outer picket - with no compromises. This standard is expensive and difficult to maintain, so inevitably many recruits drift off to less demanding groups. The remaining core are probably the most uniform, complete and best equipped in the country. We would be interested in competing with any other CW group's team with pistols, carbines or rifles.

We are not a battle re-enactment group although members do take the field if the opportunity arises. The group has a wide range of members - reflecting the various types you would find in a Napoleonic encampment. We are able to appear as a group on our own or, as part of a larger show, we can compliment the activities of other re-enactors - by the provision of an authentic encampment and life and society of the Regency Period.

We can field a mounted troop of 16 men, including an officer and a trumpeter, to perform well under fire. The Association takes part in re-enactment events all over Europe. Its activities also include historical research into uniforms and into the military history of both regiments, the reproduction of uniforms, equipment and accoutrements. The aim is to portray the cuirassiers and carabiniers as authentic as possible, which also means a high degree of training for man and horse, which is upheld by exercises and drill every week at a horse stables in The Hague. We hold Georgian reenactment services in the church to commemorate Trafalgar Day and local man Jack Crawford, hero of the Battle of Camperdown, where we encourage our members to dress in Georgian costume. Our aim is to preserve the Georgian and Victorian heritage of the old parish of Sunderland.

Virginia Militia, The	Quinton Carroll 43 Strympole Way Highfields Caldecote Cambridgeshire England CB3 7ZJ Tel : Fax : (m) : Email : quinton@strympole.freeserve.co.uk	We recreate the raising of a militia unit of a private plantation in the Virginia Colony during the Indian Wars of the 1620s. The militia units raised during this time were formed almost entirely from local communities, with a wide range of equipment (often obsolete) and trained by European mercenaries. We display the unique weapons and drill used by the early colonists, and our Living History presents colony life. The Virigina Militia is the alter ego of Sir Gilbert Hoghtons Companie, a Sealed Knot regiment.

Most of the units belong to the Napoleonic Association out of the UK, but there is no requirement for such as part of the H.B. In fact, to be a part of the Highland Brigade there are no dues, applications or membership fees! Too good to be true? Read on, MacDuff! To date the "Brigade" consists of the 42nd & 71st HLI in England, the 42nd and 79th in Germanls visiting another unit) participate together, as little confusion happens as possible.
