Despite the speaker stand in this photo, which leapt in front of the camera at the last minute, it provides a good overview of the event. The knights in the foreground are all from the upper reaches of the nobility, since they have individual pieces of plate armour over their mail, all attached by laces to the mail or to the gambeson. Having dismounted to fight at Bannockburn, leg protection would have been removed to provide better movement.
