Battle of Camden Remembrance Weekend. Join us in remembering the brave men, both American and British, who fought for what they believed in at the Battle of Camden, the worst Patriot defeat of the Revolution. This free event will include a British encampment of some 35 re-enactors on the vary grounds occupied by Lord Charles Cornwallis and his troops in 1780-81. Scheduled throughout each day will be living history skits, (Saturday/"Preparing for Battle," Sunday/"Punishment of Patriots") and a viewing of "Sunrise at Gum Swamp," a SCETV documentary on the Battle of Camden. Binchester Roman Fort, nr. Bishop Auckland, County Durham. Binchester Roman Fort is a way station on Deer Street, which guarded the crossing of the river Wear. The fort is the biggest and most complete such Roman building in England but despite this, the overall site is not large and generally full of Roman buildings. We are therefore confined to a limited LHE / craft display plus a small arena which is suitable for one to one, and small scale combat displays only. All are welcome by prior arrangement with Northumbria on a first come first served basis up to a maximum of 25 re-enactors. Some reimbursement for expenses will be available depending on actual numbers attending. Anyone requiring further details should email me on steven.lines@virgin.net.
